Seon yoga
■ Yuyeongong (Making the body flexible)
Side exercise
You move the hand, making a fist while the other hand is behind you on the mat.
Waist exercise 
You lift up the waist with using your hands behind you on a mat.

Yuyeongong is a warm up exercise to make the whole body flexible and relaxed. It also corrects bone joints and affects the elasticity of muscles.

■ Ocheyubeop
You twist back your upper body and place your forearms on a mat.
The effect of the exercise
It helps stretch the waist, relax the chest and muscle of the belly, and corrects the spine.

It relaxes the five parts of the body which are head, arms, legs, belly and back, along with the tension on the mind and body. Additionally, it corrects bone joints and helps developing muscle’s elasticity, based on anatomical, physiological structure and function.

Ocheyubeop is a meditation to help the body keep its physiological balance, relax us physically and mentally through Seon breath and stretching.

■ Yeongjeongjwagwan
You switch the position of two hands

Yeongjeongjwagwan is a basic practice for reaching Samadhi by the unification of mind and body through the changing position of the palms, observing the chakras and the harmony with the breath. Yeongjeongjwagwan is taught from the beginner level.

It consists of 17 movements and expresses Dharma-chakra (the Wheel of Dharma) to go into samadhi through the harmony of vitality, energy and spirit.

■ Yeongdongjwagwan

Yeongdongjwagwan is a high level of practice to control mind and body, to heal disease and to reach enlightenment by going into samadhi through a variety of mudras. This practice is only taught to practitioners who reached the level of 3rd Dan.

■ Yeongjeongipgwan

You do Seon breath with smooth and slow motions based on relaxed postures. You watch the motions with your mind and harmonize the consciousness and the energy. Then, you are able to feel the mysteries of the universe, concentration and a joyful state of mind while listening to the Buddha's teaching.

■ Yeongdongipgwan

Yeongdongipgwan (A bear posture)

Yeongdongipgwan is based on the postures of 7 animals: tiger, dragon, monkey, bear, turtle and crane. The joints, muscles and organs are getting stronger through the Yeongdongipgwan of Seon qigong.

It enables the central nervous system’s development and good flow of pulses through a three-step deep breath and harmonious motions.

■ Yeongjeonghaenggwan

Yeongjeonghaenggwan Jidaeche(Muk)

The human body consists of four material elements: Ji (Earth), Soo (Water), Hwa (Fire), Poong (Air or Wind) and three spiritual elements :

Gong (Space), Sik (Consciousness), Gyeon (Insight Perception). This practice is named Seon qigong and aims to harmonize these seven great elements.

It is practiced in order to pursue the relaxation of the body and mind, health and enlightenment.

■ Yeongdonghaenggwan

Yeongdonghaenggwan is the practice for dynamic motions as to express that ‘Mind and body are not different. They are the same.

The three qualities of physical practice are flexibility, balance, elasticity. Yeongdonghaenggwan develops them by practicing Kwonbeopsae, one of the secular martial art Poomsae. The continuous practice of the basics of attack and defense allow practitioners to gain competitive techniques.

In terms of religion, it enables us to reach the same state as the Buddha’s three secrets, purify the karma and attain enlightenment and Buddhahood with our present bodily incarnation through a variety of mudras and the harmony of motions.

Therefore, Seunghyeong as part of Yeongdonghaenggwan expresses the practitioner’s enlightenment through motions and it has been developed into a way of representing a great vow or journey itself.
